Join the Rapeseed/Canola Producers Cooperative of Zimbabwe

Let’s Make Rapeseed Work for You

Rapeseed (also known as canola) is fast becoming one of Zimbabwe’s most valuable oilseed crops. Our soils and climate are well-suited for its cultivation — and with the growing demand for cooking oil, stock feed, and biofuel, rapeseed offers strong income potential for local farmers. Yet many small-scale producers struggle with access to markets, knowledge, and support. That’s why the Rapeseed Growers Cooperative of Zimbabwe was created — to help rapeseed farmers thrive and grow sustainable businesses.

The Cooperative brings together farmers from all over Zimbabwe — whether you’re currently growing rapeseed or just getting started. We offer you a reliable support system: training, inputs, equipment access, and a collective market. Together, we’re stronger.

Why We Started the Cooperative

Rapeseed has high value, but most Zimbabwean producers operate in isolation. Without access to high-quality seed, fertilizers, or proper harvesting tools, many sell their crops at low prices to middlemen. There’s limited access to crushing or processing infrastructure, which limits value addition and market reach.

We believe that by uniting as producers, we can create one powerful brand, share critical resources, and sell in bulk to higher-value markets — including processors, manufacturers, and even export buyers.

What You Get as a Member

As a member of the Cooperative, you gain more than just a network — you gain tools for success. We offer training in modern rapeseed cultivation techniques, covering everything from land preparation, pest management, and crop rotation to harvesting and post-harvest handling.

We also support you with access to inputs such as certified seed, fertilizers, and spraying equipment, as well as shared access to harvesters and crushing facilities. These are often out of reach for individual farmers — but not when we work together.

The Cooperative pools harvests and negotiates better prices with processors and buyers, helping you earn more from every kilogram of rapeseed. This way, you reduce risk and increase your income potential.

We Are Building for the Future

To unlock rapeseed’s full potential, we’re establishing regional oilseed processing and storage hubs. These facilities will enable us to press oil locally, package it professionally, and meet national and export standards. By processing the crop ourselves, we keep more value in the hands of farmers.

We’re also raising capital through a debenture scheme — an opportunity for people across Zimbabwe to invest in the Cooperative’s growth and earn interest. Each debenture costs just US$1, pays 10% annual interest, and matures in three years. It’s an opportunity to invest in agriculture and earn — whether or not you’re a rapeseed farmer.

Why You Should Join

If you’re a rapeseed farmer — or want to become one — this Cooperative is your platform. It’s affordable to join, and you’ll never farm alone again. You’ll get expert guidance, access to tools and inputs, and a guaranteed market for your harvest. As a member-owner, you also get a voice in how the Cooperative is run.

Rapeseed can change your income, support your family, and contribute to Zimbabwe’s food and energy security. Together, we can build a strong local oilseed industry that benefits all of us.
